I have been juicing for years now – since I was a kid really. It has been a few years since I juiced more than once or twice a month, but I have been inspired to reignite my interest in juicing and I want to take it a step further by experimenting with making the ‘Green Drink’.
I have heard Robin Quivers talking about her Green Drink now for a couple of years, but since we have had two children under two years old it has been (or at least seemed) impossible to commit the time to make Green Drinks. Looking back now not committing to juicing seems pretty stupid considering the result of juicing and Green Drink is usually more energy and a clearer mind.
My thoughts are that it is a good idea to work my way up to making Green Drink. I didnt want the experience to be negative. There are already a couple of hurdles with the taste and the effect it can have on your stomach. I have heard stories of explosive bowel movements (I hesitate to say diarrhea to describe it, but that’s what it is most similar to) and I didnt want to risk going down that road. I thought that I would take the same approach as when someone has not been to the gym in a long time – ease your way in. I dont like the super-burning-sore hangover you get from pushing it too hard on the first day at the gym.

So on the first day I made a Carrot Juice, but I added some new twists with whole baby spinach, celery, ginger and an apple.

The Recipe (makes about 3 pints, so quite a lot in this one):
Around 1lb or .5kg of carrots
Two little heads of Spinach
1/2 an entire Celery (about 6 heads split down to 3) including the base of the plant – cut out the dirty bits
1 apple
1 bit of Ginger about the size of a $25 cent piece and as thick as 1/2 inch or 15 mm

Juice, Collect, and Drink up!
